A personal challenge kicking me off into the new year:

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.- Audre Lorde

The year 2017, for me has been nothing more than a testimony. I’ve experienced pain, near death experiences, moments where I simply wanted to stop breathing. Yet I also experienced  a breath of fresh air, a rebirth, and it’s been painfully beautiful. I rediscovered my worth, the power I posses as a young Black woman, and I continue to fall in love with myself more and more each day, for example one huge accomplishment for me was recently cutting my hair (doing the big chop). In doing this, it was symbolic of shedding dead weight, insecurities, fear, anything to do with negativity. I wouldn’t change anything that  I’ve gone through this year, for it has made my faith in God, and my faith in myself stronger. To share all that I’ve endured and overcame this year, would require me to write a book. For the time being, I’ve decided to create a challenge for the month of December. With this challenge I’ll be writing affirmations to myself everyday, I will then go on to meditate on the affirmation. I often times don’t give myself enough credit, and I’m here to break that habit.

With the remaining days of this month and year, I will write an affirmation to myself everyday and share it via my blog.

• I will look in the mirror and read aloud every affirmation to myself.

•I will journal everyday, and meditate for 20 minutes.

There are 25 days left of 2017, on December 31st I will write a letter to myself, and rip all of my daily affirmations from the month up, and release them into the universe.

“You are entirely up to you”.
