I drove around the city of Flint today, observing and admiring what is often times overlooked.. stopping here and there to take pictures of what caught my attention or made me feel something. For the first day of my adventure I decided to take a few pictures of beautiful art work throughout the city, although it is limited I was able to capture what I could. As I drove around the city I observed people siting outside on their porches, or standing outside of corner stores.. everyday life. I realized that with everything that our city is going through, there are yet so many beautiful and historic things that I’ve overlooked or simply never noticed before. Looking beyond the headlines and appreciating the city that I grew up in..through the pain and struggle that residents here are facing, there is so much light. Often times wondering why I have such a deep passion for understanding the city of Flint, the people of Flint, who governs Flint, Flints culture. It’s simple! There is simply so much that I don’t know about my city; that I long to discover, so much more to the city of Flint than the naked eye can see. A day, appreciating the beauty within the city.
